Who woulda thunk it?

A whole year has passed and I've blossomed from this

To this:

I had lots of lovely present to open and wrapping paper to chew this morning, so thank you to everyone. It has been a great 1st year so far... still can't quite get over the fact that I'm a one-year old.

It's not me, it's you.

Me and this nursery thing just isn't working. So far I've managed to avoid attending for the following reasons:

  • Minor concussion
  • Projectile vomiting
  • Diarrhoea
  • Cold (passed to Mummy)
  • Chest infection
  • Conjunctivitis (passed to Mummy)
  • Rash all over my body
And that's just the first month!

Still it's not all bad. I've been able to spend some time with Nana and Daddy, and generally get all the attention.

In unrelated news... I also got to meet Dan and Tash last weekend. Those on Facebook can see the pics here.

Progress

A progress report: I now have 2 teeth (top and bottom right hand side) and I can say 'muma'. Well it's more like 'mumumumumumaaaaaaaahhhhhhh!' but she knows what I mean. I am also very nearly crawling... sometimes I go backwards, sometime I go sideways and every now and then I go forward too.

Skool suckz!

I started my first day at Nursery today - boooooooo! It was supposed to be yesterday but I managed to wangle my way out of it. In a desperate attempt to avoid it, I threw myself off the bed and bumped my head so had to be watched for 24 hours. I'll think of something else soon.

The Dynamic Crime-Busting Duo

Swimming, shopping and crime-busting - just a normal day for little fella.

You've heard of Batman and Robin. You've heard of Cagney and Lacey. You've heard of Baker and Poncherello from CHiPs. You've probably heard of Dempsey and Makepeace. But the latest crime busting duo, looking after South West London, is Mummy and Nana, who prevented a major crime taking place in Wandsworth this afternoon. Some scumbag tried to steal my Nana's handbag. Without a second though the crack crime-busters swung into action, chasing the perp out of Mothercare, forcing her to drop the stolen swag on the way out. I played my part, of course, growling and shaking my fists. Anyway: Good guys 1; Bad guys 0.

There's a lesson to be learned here... don't try and upset the natural order of things - never try and steal a scouser's handbag.

It's a jungle out there. Keep safe dear reader and remember, don't have nightmares.

Team Ravenhall

This weekend we went to Nottingham so Mummy, Grandad, Uncle Dick and Unlce Ian could run in the Nottingham Half Marathon. Unlce Dick won the Ravenhall Challenge Cup, with a time of 1:59 and a few seconds!

An update picture

Here's a picture of me and my cousins Amelia and Eleanor taken at Grandma and Grandad's house while mummy and daddy went to Bath for the weekend. Believe it or not but I used to be less than half the size of Eleanor!

Mad dogs and Englishmen

Sorry for the lack of updates recently, I've been a busy boy and am now eating lots of solid foods. I've also taught myself to roll over and can get across a room pretty quick now. This weekend I had Nannie and Uncle Mark over for a few days - Nannie went off for a week in Scotland and Uncle Mark waited until the hottest day of the year to take part in the London Triathlon. Here's a video of him crossing the finishing line. Nice outfit! Well done Uncle Mark. Later on Sunday afternoon we had a few celebratory drinks and a BBQ with Uncle Dick and Auntie Sue.

What a difference... 6 months makes

...43,200 little hours. Auntie Angela came over to see me tonight. It's been almost 6 month since I last saw her and lots has changed since then. Last time she saw me I looked like this. I'd just finished my bottle, so don't worry, the bottle in the picture was for her.

What's up Doc?

I thought I'd try some veggies for lunch today, so I had my personal chef rustle up some blended carrots...

End of a tough day

Meanwhile - here's some target practice for Grabgra.

Solid as a rock

Had my first solid food - a bit of baby rice. Pretty good stuff all told, but I'm still fond of the old milk. Still, one must expand one's gastronomic horizons.

A weekend with my Auntie Lizzie

What a lovely weekend - I got to spend the whole time with my Auntie Lizzie. We had lots of fun and went out for lunch to the Arkle Manor. Then on Bank Holiday Monday we went to Nana and Grabgra's to meet my cousins Madison and Charlotte. We are off to meet them again with the whole family next weekend.

Who says boys can't multi-task

Here's me multi-tasking.... watching Chelsea -vs- Man U with Grandad, giggling, eating a muslin and kicking my legs all at the same time.

Me and my Grandma

Here's my favourite picture of me on my Grandma's knee. Am I a bruiser or what?

My First Holiday in Keswick

Here's some photos of me out walking in the lakes with my mummy and cousin Amelia. This was my first holiday and I had lots of new clothes to wear. I also went on my first boat ride with mummy and daddy, Nannie, Grandad and Grandma, Uncle Ian, Auntie Tracy and Amelia.

First a smile, and then some laughter

I am now a bit of a chuckler too.

My First Smile

I was in the bath and I made myself a wig out of bubbles, as you do, and I thought "something is missing... I know, a smile!" So here it is - my first smile, immortalised forever on the World Wide Web. It has been a long time since my last update, so I hope it was worth the wait.

It's a girl

Congratulations to Auntie Trish and Uncle Alex who had a baby girl at about 5.30 this evening weighing 8lbs 13oz. Can't wait to meet baby Sniggers and find out what her name is. My first girlfriend. Kisses.

UPDATE: Her name is Sophie and I bet she's a beauty.

Happy Birthday Mummy

Happy Birthday Mummy! As a special treat we went to Nana's so mummy and daddy could go out and get drunk. I was a good boy for Nana and slept through most of the night.

Wednesday, 14 February 2007

Ladies, please!

So the postman came... no Valentines Day cards for me, and yet I've had all these women coming to see me, acting like they want to snog my face off. Gutted. There's always next year I suppose.
Anyway -
Happy Birthday Uncle Jem.
Keep your legs crossed Auntie Trish.
Happy Valentines Day to all my laydeez.

Spot the difference

My official due date came and went on 7th February, with a little snow and ice to celebrate. Those who are following my weight will notice that on my due date I was 6lbs exactly. I'm turning into a right little chubster.

A busy weekend

Saturday night was awash with people. Uncle Lee and Auntie Sam came back from skiing to see me, Uncle Tom and Auntie Kelly (Curly) came over too to celebrate Kelly's birthday and we were joined by Auntie Kelly (Straight) and Uncle Kim. (I know that last bit might be confusing, but it is not a miss-type, I did mean to say Uncle Kim. He's got a girl's name and he's from Cornwall. Does that explain it?)
On Sunday I went to see my Nana and Grabgra for the afternoon. I did 2 poos and slept quite a lot. Nana's hand is still sore but seems to be getting better - a consensus of opinion seems to be forming about how it happened though.

Meanwhile, at home I've been making friends and arousing the curiosity of my feline brothers. Now this is not a threat or anything, but you know what curiosity did to the cat, don't you?

Les be friends

So my lounge resembled a same-sex adoption agency today. Auntie Claire and Auntie Faye came over to see me today - they had been talking to me every day and poked me while I was in mummy's tummy, so it was nice to put faces to the voices. They made some lunch for mummy and daddy while I had a sleep and then argued about who was the most natural mum.

Eric and Alex, watch out...

Jungle Jack

Uncle Ian and Auntie Tracey got me this Jungle Gym so I had a bit of a work out to make me tired for bedtime.

1 month old

1 month old and 4lbs 9oz... what a big boy I am. I'm settling into a nice routine at nights and breast feeding happily. I'm a great gurgler and a good cuddler.

Day 1 at home

I want you all to do exactly as I say. Put your chin onto your chest and make a low growling sound for about 3 seconds. Then stop for 2 seconds and repeat. Intersperse with some grizzles and squeeks. Start doing this at midnight and don't stop until, oooh, about 8.30am. That's what I did last night and I think Mummy and Daddy really appreciated it.

I had a midwife and a health visitor over to see me today and they commented on how healthy I was looking and weighed me. Everything is going great.

Jack has left the building

Last one out turn off the lights. I am so out of here! It's been fun, but Scene I of The Life of Jack Wills draws to a close. All that was left for me to do was to do a final do-do, pack up my bits and pieces and get into my leaving outfit. I've still got a bit of growing to do before it is a perfect fit, but it's not too bad, is it?

Here's a final shot of my cot that has been my comfortable home for the last couple of weeks. Mummy and Daddy have a brand new one for me at home that I just cannot wait to snuggle up in.

Seems like ages ago that all this started, but I have lots of new people to meet and the restrictive visiting hours at the hospital were really cramping my style. Looking forward to seeing you all soon.

I'm coming home!

Just had a full check up by the Doc - everything in working order, so after 28 long days I am packing up my things and heading for home. Lennox, Barmie and Frank be warned: there is a new boss in town.

Sunday, 7 January 2007

You know you're the boss when...

I just had to make it abundantly clear who wears the trousers in this relationship... yeah I know, I don't wear trousers yet but "I just had to make it abundantly clear who wears the baby grow in this relationship" doesn't read so well. Besides, my readers in America wouldn't understand what I mean anyway because they call baby grows 'Onesies', which I find rather strange, until I take into account that Dubbya was voted back in for a second term!

Anyway - I digress. I wanted to demonstrate just what control I have over this situation, so first of all I had the night staff running around after me by screaming for my food every 4 hours. Then I got them to call ma and pa and tell them that I was ready for mummy to stay in overnight so I would be ready to come home any day. Mummy and Daddy ran around like nutters getting everything ready for me, we had our own private room, with a bed and TV and room service. Everything was perfect. Or so they though... I decided that today was the day that I'd catch up on my sleep. They tried everything to wake me - they made me cold: I slept. They put me in the bath: I slept. They reduced my food intake: I slept. They jigged me around as much as they could, but still I slept. Listen, you don't spend 27 nights in the SCBU without learning a thing or two, and I know alllllll your tricks.

The stand off commences. Who will give in first?

In other news... it seems that 100% of my readers think my Nana has a drink problem. Cast your vote today, and remember Nana, everyone likes a drink but no one likes a drunk.

12th Night

Nana and Grabgrah came to see me this evening and I got to have my first cuddle with them. Nana has hurt her arm, but she still managed to give me a cuddle. They also gave me some fabulous new clothes, including a striped baby grow that will make me look like a convict... I am only quarter Scouser though Nana! She also passed on a half pint pewter tankard that belonged to my great Grandad Charlie. Looking forward to knocking back my first few ales in that!
Anyway - a couple of my nurses asked me how Nana hurt her arm, so I thought I'd have a bit of fun and set up an online poll to try and get to the bottom of this mystery. Grabgrah tells me that vast quantities of alcohol were being consumed on the premises at the time, but do not let that cloud you judgement. The poll should be on the right of the screen and you can view the current results here. Get well soon Nana.

OK... deep breath

I know, I know, it's been some time since I've been able to give you a decent update on me and some of you may have felt that your oxygen supply has been cut off, and for that I apologise. So here goes...

I've had a busy few days, you see I had to get Daddy ready to go back to work, then I had to nurse mummy back to health and then I've been basically looking after her for most of the day. She comes in here and we have a private room to get to know each other, read magazine and discuss who we think will win Celebrity Big Brother. As I passed into my 3rd week, I had 2 baths - I enjoyed the first, but was slightly less keen on the second - judging from my reaction I think it might have been a bit cold.I've been a bit light on visitors since New Years Eve so imagine how pleased I was when Grandma and Grandad came to see me this afternoon for a cuddle and a catch-up.

Grandma had a stern talk to me about breast feeding, so I made a bit of an effort, but the truth is I've been spoiled here, so am not really used to having to work for my dinner. However, they are starting to get a bit stricter with me, and have reduced my food intake to try and motivate me to feed by myself. Rubbish! I have a secret stash of Mars Bars under my cot to help me bolster my weight (put on an extra 35g this morning!!). If you do come in to see me, bring in some snacks for me - I hear chocolate and crisps are quite nice (Grandad tells me Pringles are quite good this time of year!)

Well this weekend should be a busy one - with plenty of visitors coming my way, including Nana and Grabgrah.

Chubster

I piled on another 50g at my weigh in session this morning and then mummy came in and gave me my first bath... my feet were getting a bit cheesy!

Happy New Year

What a way to start the year - I put on 85g. No doubt you, dear reader, have woken up vowing to stop drinking and loose weight in 2007 - I, however, have to start drinking (milk) and keep piling on the pounds.
