NYE06

Well 2006 has been an interesting year... birth etc etc. Anyway - final day of 2006, you all know my resolutions and I have but 1 left... feed from the boob! Unfortunately mummy has been too ill to come and see me today but uncle Tom and auntie Kelly came to see me tonight and then they are cooking dinner for mummy and daddy later. My first day of being allowed out for a cuddle. Great to see you guys and a Happy New Year to all my readers. 2007 will be the year of the Jack - just you wait and see.

Saturday, 30 December 2006

Auntie Sam and Uncle Lee came to see me this afternoon and saw me being fed - then they held my hand and told me how sweet I am. They also took some pictures to show me off to Uncle Faff and Auntie Tash this evening. Have a nice evening and thanks for dropping in to see me.

When you're on a roll...

I did it! I did it! I got upgraded to Nursery 3. No more monitors on my foot, no more hotcots. I have one sensor under my mattress which is to make sure I don't get out of my cot and book myself a taxi home I think. Now all I have to do is start feeding from the boob, but I'm in no rush - besides my dad tells me I have the rest of my life to be obsessed with breasts!

I did it!

Another 80g and another objective achieved! I made it to my target weight...

Check out my Crib

Someone get MTV on the phone - I want to show them around! Here's my new crib, as promised. You'll also notice that I am wearing a rather fetching beany hat. This hat was knitted by my devoted Nana this summer in Italy. She thought it would be too small for me so she knitted me another... little did she know! Daddy says it looks like a condom but I don't know what he means. Do you?

4 Generations

I could hardly get a word in edge ways with these 3 around me! Thanks to great-nannie for knitting me a micro-cardie in record time and to grandma for buying me this cute blue outfit I'm wearing in this shot. It is nice to have some clothes that fit.

They have upgraded my bed again. As I am now regulating my own temperature I'm in a new cot - the same type as all the big boys and girls are put in when they are born. I'll take some pictures of it later tonight for you. I will also get weighed again tonight so with any luck that will tick-off the second of my three goals - only one left before I get to go home.

Nearly there

I put on another 55g this morning - I am now 1720g or 3lbs 13oz. You can quickly convert pounds and ounces to kilos and grams here.

2 weeks old

I passed my 2-week birthday this afternoon, my umbilical cord fell off and I get weighed again this evening. All going well I will get upgraded to room 3 in a few days - one step closer to the door.

Presents, presents, presents

It seems that Santa did visit me in hospital - I woke up to the biggest stocking I've ever had... ok the only stocking I've ever had. I hope he observed the strict hand-washing routine here... once at the main door and once next to my cot. [Note to mummy and daddy... my stocking has to be bigger than me every year, even when I am a big boy.]

I also got 2 new friends, Winnie the Pooh with a 'Love from Santa' jumper and a bear with a blue outfit from grandma and grandad (the one I am pointing to). I'm running a competition for whoever comes up with the best name for the bear on the blue outfit so add your suggestion in the comments section below this post - simply click the word 'comments'. The winner is guaranteed a hug from me as soon as I come out of the SCBU. What a prize!

I got my first book for Christmas too - but books are for geeks so I'm covering my face.

Big Foot

Here's an image from the card my nurses helped me make for my mum and dad.

Christmas Day 2006

This is the card I sent to daddy this morning... and it is true - I put on 60g since my last weigh-in, so now I am back up to my birth weight.

Christmas Eve 2006

My uncle Jem and auntie Mary came over to see me this afternoon. I'd been wriggling quite a bit in the morning so was tired and sleepy when they came. I think mummy and daddy were tired too, because they forgot the camera so no pictures today I'm afraid - maybe they had been up late the night before wrapping my presents?

I think I have secured all the pressies I am going to get this year as the shops are now closed, however, my thoughts are now turning to the New Year. I know you are probably thinking I am too young to have New Years' Resolutions, but I have them any way

Goal 1: Get to at least 1.8kg / 4lbs
Goal 2: Regulate my own body temperature
Goal 3: Feed myself (not with a knife and fork; from the boob!)

I get weighed again tomorrow and as my food intake has increased again to 31ml every 3 hours, I am hoping to have piled on the weight. Once I achieve my 3 goals I get to go home.

What a lucky boy!

So, we are mere days away from Christmas and I've been on my best behaviour. I've also been adding to my list of tricks - as well as hiccuping and wriggling, I have also perfected the art of peeing up my own back. This gets the nurses' attention and soon has them running around changing my bedding, only for me to demonstrate my new trick all over again. This is fun.

This afternoon I had a couple of visitors - grandad came to see me again and also my great nannie. My uncle Mark was due to come as well, but he is unwell so stayed away. He and uncle Dick very kindly got me a baby gym to help me tone up some of this fat I've been putting on, so thank you uncle Mark and uncle Dick, I'll be up for doing the New York Marathon with you in a couple of years.

Beef Cake!

Great news: between my last weigh-in on Tuesday and this morning (Friday), I have put on 55g!

Thursday, 21 December 2006

Hold on one second...

In a previous post I said I had put on 15g. Well in actual fact I put on 25g. I know it is not much, but it means an awful lot to me.

Sorry for the confusion... please forgive me... it won't happen again I promise. I don't want to make excuses but I did have the hiccups, and I'm only little. I get weighed again tonight, so will keep you posted. I am hoping for good news as they have increased my milk intake again today... 21ml every 2 hours. Burp!

The most popular baby in the ward

What's a little man to do? Once I'd got rid of my hiccups yet more visitors arrived - I think the other babies are getting jealous. My great aunt Hilary and my first cousin once removed, Chris, came to visit and bought me a fab coloured toy that makes lots of fun noises and a cute 'little' baby grow that I can wear when I get fatter. Keep watching my weight watching chart on the right of the page...

I've also started doing really stinky poos for mum and dad and have plenty of milk to keep me going.

Little people get little hiccups

Anyone know a cure for hiccups that doesn't involve holding my breath or drinking a glass of water backwards? Other than the hiccups I've also put on 15g today, so like my dad I'm piling on weight in the build up to Christmas.

3 Guesses

Clear your mind and look at my face - can you guess what I am doing right now?

Swaddled and molly-coddled

Yes I know I'm cute, but seriously, mum, dad - my Christmas presents had better be wrapped better than this!

Favourite pass time #2

Favourite pass time #2 -cuddles with dad.

N.B. Favourite pass time #1 involves boobs! (nice one son - Dad)

Does my bum look big in this?

Can you believe it! My first day wearing clothes and mum and dad bring me in this to wear - er, excuse me, but does this come in an extra-extra small?

A little man's gotta do what a little man's gotta do

So anyway, you know how I was telling you about how I've been upgraded and I'll be moving next door... well mum and dad happened to mention that my auntie Angela was going to be coming over in the evening to say "Hi". So I'm thinking - here I am in my new crib and whilst clothes are really cool and everything, one thing they can't cover up is the fact that I'm still in need of a good tan. So I pretended to the doctors that my jaundice that I told you about in an earlier post had come back and they rigged me up to the sun lamp again to give me a bit of a top-up. Clothes can wait until tomorrow. The good news is I don't have to be connected up to that pesky ECG anymore - those cables kept getting tangled in my toes and the sensor pads left tan marks!

Day 5 in the SCBU. Grandma and Grandad came to see me again this morning and I was allowed out for a cuddle with mummy. I had my lunch and got a bit of wind, but that was soon sorted out.

Anyway, it is all change here. As I have been a good boy and breathing all by my self, I'm moving out of my incubator into a hot cot in room 2 - which is basically a heated water bed. This also means that I get to wear clothes for the first time in my life, so mum and dad will be back later today to dress me. I wonder what they will bring in for me? I'm a very fashion conscious young fella.

What a day it's been!

I had an exciting day yesterday and I met auntie Trish in the evening and then I had a lovely sleep. First thing in the morning mummy came in and gave me a wash and changed my nappy. Then she gave me my breakfast. I also decided that today was the day to start opening my eyes and having a look around which is fortunate as I had a lot of visitors. I met auntie Sam and auntie Kelly and uncle Tom who came in to say hello in the afternoon. I did some of my best wriggling for them.

Later on Nana came in to see me again and I also met my auntie Lizzie. My wriggling is a bit of a hit with everyone, so I plan to do a whole lot more of that!

The Jack Wills Fan Club seems to be growing everyday. Join the JWFC today!

In the evening dad gave me another wash and changed my little nappy again. My room here has become quite busy - I have 4 little friends to entertain me and have screaming competitions with. I hope Santa brings lots of pressies with him, because although I am happy to share my nurses with them, they are not going to have any of my pressies!

Going for growth

Good news. They have increased my food intake today - so I am going for growth!

My visiting hours, if you want to come and see me are 15.00 - 17.00 and 19.00 - 20.30. Hope to see you soon.

Team Wills

I just had to show off this picture me and the oldies. I lasted all morning without any help breathing so as a special treat I was allowed out for a long cuddle with mum and dad.

Another step forward

Another day and another round of tests. My fan club of doctors and nurses have picked up that I have a bit of a chest infection, but it is nothing to be too concerned about. My uncle Dick came to visit me the other day and I am horrified to see I have inherited his gargantuan feet. Hopefully I will also inherit his charm, wit and golfing prowess. They let my mum out of hospital last night and she will be coming in every day to see me, give me some milk and change my messy nappy. I'll be in here for a few weeks yet, so if anyone see a fat man in a red suit and a white beard, please, please, please tell him I am in here. Tell him I'm the cute one in the incubator by the door. And yes, I have been a good boy (so far).

Working on my tan

What's a guy supposed to do? I am surrounded by all these nice women in nurses uniforms and I therefore need a bit of a tan so I am looking my best. They've got me under this sun lamp to help with my jaundice too and I've had a proper meal so life's good right now. I still occasionally need a bit of help with my breathing, but that is because I am far too busy being cute. It's hard work you know.

My Photo Album

Now that mum and dad have worked out how to use the camera without a flash, you can see all of my latest photos here.

I'll put a link on the right hand side of this page too for easy access.

Technical update

Nana, if you click on the pictures you can see a bigger version of each one. I need to wait until Auntie Carol teaches dad how to reduce the sizes of the photos once he's taken them.

Also, even though you will no doubt have my website set as your homepage, you might want to enter your e-mail in the box below right, and you will be automatically e-mailed any updates.

I'm a day old

All in all this life malarkey is pretty good. I have this team of lovely nurses who look after me 24/7 and mum and dad keep popping in to say hello and change my nappy. I generally try and get all of my crying out of the way so when they come to see me they think I am a peaceful little man. I'm still waiting to have my first proper meal, but otherwise things are cool.

Livin' in a box

Everyone keeps saying how small I am, but look! I can touch the sides. I think I'll need a bigger box.

Systems check

Just checking my lungs are working properly... yep, they seem to be just fine. I think I'll have a pee next.

The Big JT is here.

ET Phone Home....

This is me age... oooooh, about 1 minute. I have quite a bit of hair and I am 3 lbs, 10 oz. I was not supposed to come out until 7th Feb 2007, but I just could not wait any longer, and I really want to get some extra Christmas presents... dad tells me the new Xbox 360 is quite good.
